Jo Mercer is well known as one of the leading shoe brands in Australia. The client engaged Studio Grayscale to design a brand-new concept for their Bondi Junction store. The brief from the client was to design a space that had timeless appeal and for the shoes to be the hero of the space.

Soft curves are expressed throughout the store design – through the shopfront signage; meticulously designed joinery details; rounded corners of wall panelling; considered arched alcoves and pill shaped mirrors. Solid elements of timber and brass accents provide contrast to the gentle forms while a neutral palette of white and soft beige projects a timelessness to the design.

At the shopfront zone, the clean lines of vertical cladding serve as a perfect backdrop for the classic, black illuminated signage. The rounded corner semi frame, anchored by the window display adds to the sense of openness, welcoming customers into the store.

The display joinery continues into the shop interior, curving around corners. Display shelves are designed at optimum levels for customer reach and visual impact. The walls here are intentionally finished in white to enable the shoes to be the heroes. Horizontal layers of bright concealed led strip lighting are selected to showcase & highlight the products against the white canvas
