SUSSAN, CHADSTONE VIC
Sussan approached us to redesign their flagship store in Chadstone. Excited to embark on the design journey for this store - we were inspired by neutral, natural tones, soft curves, and illumination.
In the most sustainable manner, we retained the existing façade and retreated it to be ownable and suitable for the Sussan brand. The existing façade was re-treated in the neutral and natural tones that led the inspiration for the interior. We employed a two-tone approach, with a sandy beige treatment to the v-groove, and fresh white tones to the framework. We introduced custom backlit terrazzo wall lights, and custom round terrazzo door handles.
Internally, we maintained the natural approach – engineered oak timber floorboards throughout.
Another sustainable approach internally was to retain the existing ceiling, and feature LED ceiling panels. We replaced/refreshed the lighting and panels throughout, but the plasterboard ceiling was retained and repainted.
The customer journey within the store was about creating ‘wardrobes’ within the overall store, where ‘fashion stories’ could be featured within various zones throughout the store. Breaking up each wardrobe is a highlight/feature bay – a specialised highlight bay is an illuminated showcase that allows any featured product to shine.
Curved forms feature throughout, from the feature displays, through to the prominent marble highlight behind the sales counter, the racking and various highlight tables and joinery throughout.
The sales counter is a design highlight within the store – the two-tone base, and textured treatment with a stone top result in a statement moment within the store. The marble feature behind the counter is a moment of glamour and elegance.
The fitting rooms replicate the terrazzo feature lights, as showcased on the shopfront. Mirrors echo the curved forms within the retail space, and back illumination ensures the product, when worn, is shown in its best light.
We are proud of the new look Sussan store, it gives a new and fresh vibe to this long-standing and successful fashion retail brand.
